Peter and the Wolf
a musical classic for 2 actors, 1 narrator and symphony orchestra (usually recorded)
A musical cliff-hanger for the whole family where everyone is hunting "Humphrey", the wolf. He devours the duck and manages to get away with his life and lands in the zoo. The duck also survives.
2 actors - 7 roles - fascinating transformations. At the same time, by using the most basic theatre material, the piece offers plenty of ideas for school theatre productions.
After the performance, the actors invite the audience up onto the stage for a discussion, an adventure, especially for younger members who mostly want the following question cleared up: what happened to the wolf?!
The French composer Paul Dukas is little known today: his composition "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is however one of the most famous orchestral works. Walt Disney, no less, included Dukas' Sorcerer's Apprentice in his famous film Fantasia and the bold little would-be magician is played by the great Mickey Mouse himself.
In the Kontra-Punkt theatre pantomime, with no effort at all the broomstick comes to life and the stage is submerged in water.
